What are some good brushes?

I'm in college taking fine arts and want to know what are some good brushes. I'm looking for those who have good quality but affordable. Can you suggest what to look for in a good brush or any other brand in particular? Also, what type of brush for the different types of media (water color, Poster color, oil, acrylic etc)?

You can find a good manual on DickBlick.com for brushes, but remember they are trying to sell brushes. As a general rule, the more expensive they are, the better "feel" but not always. paint happy and did not exceed the first Purchase ... You might find some types hate, love others and do not keep a lot of useless brushes. I would recommend at least one brush angle and displacer text or online for the finest details in case you are inclined to paint it that way.
